if I could give a zero I would. My mother financed her house with these people. She suddenly passed away in March and I have been trying to get a hold of them. we have to go through probate. The Hospital social workers, my lawyer, my own reputable mortgage company all advised me that mortgage companies will freeze payments while going through the probate process. Well these people won't. I’ve never left a negative review, but I’m going out of my way to tell anyone who thinks about doing business with this company do not. I sat on hold trying to get a hold of customer service for two hours. I finally called the Insurance department and a sweet lady stayed on hold for me for another 40 minutes until someone answered my call. I am trying to buy another home but colonial messed up sending out a check with the wrong address stopped payment, held me accountable for the escrow shortage while I was trying to buy ... read more

If you’re buying a house, use any other bank. Dealing with this place is somehow more painful than pulling teeth. If your home is damaged, good luck trying to get funds released because I haven’t been able to even get an increment of my insurance funds released to begin repairs since May of 2024. It’s amazing how frustrating this bank is. Just don’t use this crappy bank, do anything else. Shooting your self in the foot and waiting 9 months for yourself to bleed out is a nicer experience than dealing with colonial. You have... read more

I switched to Colonial about 10 years ago because I wanted a local, hometown bank to do my dealings with instead of the corporate greedy banks using my money. We have multiple accounts as well as our mortgage with them. In present day, I will be switching to another bank as well as working to get my mortgage refinanced elsewhere. They bought my mortgage soon after signing for it. They are pretty useless. Hard to get a hold of them and told different things by different representatives. When you need it, they are not helpful at all. All around frustrating. Its now been 6 years and I wish they never purchased my loan.
