Nice. The quality of all the materials was excellent. I garden at a community garden and the other gardeners were very impressed with the high quality topsoil and compost (both were Cedar Grove products.)

In March of 2014, we hired Classic Nursery and Landscaping to help us create a functional and enjoyable outdoor space on our lot in West Seattle. We initially hired this company to draw a plan for a deck and landscaping. We were so impressed that we hired them to do our landscaping! After signing a contract with them we noticed that almost 1500 dollars worth of plants from the drawing was not on the bid for an unexplained reason. Despite requests for these plants and voicing willingness to pay for them, we got a phone call the day of installation saying we had never made a plan for the back fence line where the plants were missing from. Came to look at my yard and give an estimate. Discussed different projects on my "wish list" and what the priority of the projects were. Discussed my budget this year for some smaller projects was $4000-4500. Estimate came back at $22,000 and had upsold everything we discussed. For example, I wanted to simply expand my concrete patio slab. Estimate came back with jackhammering out the whole patio and replacing with an intricate paver design. That was just one item. Work was well done except that an area that I asked to be straightened was never fixed even after multiple requests. The young man who interacted with me could have been more professional.

The bad: * The sod was to be removed as specified in the design, and the ground prepped for easy planting. I was expecting, soft, rototilled, amended soil. Instead what I found was a layer of compost on top of a bed of sod clumps that had been rototilled in. I needed to get the pick out to dig holes for the plants. We have a baby, so time to do house projects is precious right now, and this was more work than I intended on doing. Part of this redesign was to make the yard a little less maintenance intensive. Alan came to my home to review my yard and to discuss my interests. He focused on price early on to ensure he would quote something that met my financial expectations. He did not do any sort of design or drawing but did give details in the proposal about how many yds etc and types of materials the quote covered.
