UPDATE: We had requested an easy to maintain landscape. The designer pushed hard for rock paths rather than hardscape, which have proved impossible to maintain - however, they were cheap for them to install so the job was more profitable for them. Over the years, we discovered that the rock debris from the installation was buried in the new planting beds - they are about two thirds dirt, one third rocks, when they were supposed to be brand new high quality soil beds.
