Awful. And do not believe the online recommendations. G and R Heating and Air pays customers to write 5-star reviews. Their communication is terrible. When my AC broke down, I must have spoken with every person in the company before I got my AC reinstalled and charged. And when I spoke with the men in the company, I received high-pressure sales techniques and lame excuses for insulting me at every turn; e.g., saying that I had the wrong filter size when the filter size was correct for the furnace before they arrived and they... read more

Business response:

Hi Richard, we appreciate your feedback as it important to us that all our customers have a great experience. What you have described is not typical for us; we pride ourselves on not pressuring our customers. Our technicians present the best options between repairing or replacing, and it's the individual's choice on how to proceed from there. So we are concerned about the experience you report - we want to reassure you that you can reach out to us directly if you would like to discuss further, and we will do what we can to m... read more

We called them on Saturday evening, and John promptly came out. All John wanted to do is install a completely new unit even though ours is only 7 years old. We currently have another company out there right now using dye to find the leak and then put the coolant in there. Hoping this will work, but, at least they are trying and not just selling a unit. I would never recommend this company and if John comes, run away, they are just trying to rip people off. It gives AC companies a bad name.

I had them come to take a look at a furnace that wasn?t working. They diagnosed two issues with the furnace. One of which was that the inducer had water in it. Instead of resolving the issue so my furnace would turn back on, they proposed a new furnace for $5500. And then another option to replace my furnace and AC for $10500. Nothing is actually wrong with my AC. After they left, I called an out of state friend that walked me through draining the water in the inducer. Within 30 minutes I had my furnace running again. I?m di... read more

Business response:

The water inside of your inducer is a BIG problem and a potential danger hazard, which is why we recommended a new unit. We cannot recommend draining water inside of an inducer and turning it back on as that could and likely will cause further problems. The other problem is that draining the water does nothing to mitigate why the water got in there in the first place. The only money charged you were the $95 cost was for the trip out to your home and the diagnosis. This diagnosis allowed you to pinpoint the problem and find a... read more

I hired this company for an annual furnace tune-up, and to get a quote for the repair of an EcoBee thermostat that was not receiving any power. They showed up on time and talked me through what needed to be done. but before giving me a quote on getting the work done to get the smart thermostat up and running, they told me they fixed it and charged me $300+ for the repair, not including the cost of the furnace tune-up. I do not think I could have been any clearer about requesting a quote for the cost of getting the thermostat... read more

Business response:

I am sorry to hear about this - it is not our policy to charge first and ask questions later. Our policy is to always let you know the price first and then do the work once you have approved the price. Let me look into this for you and find out what had happened.

The service tech would not leave the old parts. That is their company policy so we were told. This upset us very much

Business response:

\We went out to the customer home and fixed their unit. They had a capacitor that needed to be replaced. The technicians take the old parts for inventory purposes. They turn in an old part and get a new one. This is our way of tracking the technicians parts. We have never had anyone want to keep their old scrap before, and we have informed the technicians that should someone really want their old scrap, that they can keep it.

they were scheduled between 4pm and 6pm. Got a phone call at 7pm and they were over an hour away from this home, putting them on site at 8pm to 8:30pm - it is dark by 9pm here I will never use HomeAdvisor again

Business response:

Hi Gary we apologize there was a mix up in the office normally they would let you know around 5;30 or 6 if we were running late. Sometimes the techs get held up on other jobs and there's nothing we can do to control that, however, we did let you know and kept you posted on the status, and were still planning to come out to you and get you cooling that evening.
