$$$$$$$$! Way overpriced! $543.00 to replace a simple run capacitor! 25 minutes of work! Home Advisor is usually reliable, but this one was a Dog!

Business response:

This unit had excessive wiring issues that needed to be fixed in addition to the burnt capacitor, we were able to repair his wiring due and replace his capacitor for him quickly due to the training and experience of our technicians. The price reflects the service call fee, the capacitor and the new wiring.

I am very reluctant to even give one star for this company! Not a very good start at the beginning, our A/Cl central unit quit working this afternoon ..we contact them and they said just to come to look at will cost us $135 and it cannot toward any future repair and replacement of A/C (That is a rip off right there) A business never succeeds when they see their clients as cash registers! we have been told to sit tied and waiting for their technician to arrive between 5-7 pm today... unfortunately, they drop the ball at last ... read more

Business response:

We had a technician call off due to a family emergency and called to try to reschedule this customer. He did not want to reschedule so opted to call someone else. Unfortunately this was outside of our control. We never charged the customer as we never went to his home.

Do not use this company. I spent $300 for them just to add freon which was not even the problem.

Business response:

When we arrived at the customers home, the unit was low on Freon and the drain line was clogged. We have verified proof that the Freon was low. We cleaned the drain line, added the Freon and left all for under $300. When we left the unit was working perfectly. If it was continuing not to work, that means that there was another problem with the unit that needed to be addressed.

I do not know how to describe their price, let us just say total x 100. Do not be surprised if they quote you $200 for 2 min work. $95 to come by. I had a simple clogged drain pipe and ended up paying $650.

Business response:

There was additional work that was performed. We never charge without the customers approval first. We also are right in line with our reputable competitors.

They did not inform me that I would be charged twice if a repair person came out twice even when I asked before they came out the second time. When I brought it to their attention they did not apologize and said it is their policy to charge twice. I understand that but, I was not informed and was even told by the first repair person that the service charge would be applied if he came back out, but neglected to say it would be applied only if I bought a new furnace. I suggest they improve their communication skills.

Business response:

Hi Jacqueline, I am glad to hear that your unit is up and running nicely and that everything is working well. We stand by all of our work and warranty everything we do. If the problem on the second visit was related to the issue during the first visit, this would have been a completely free visit, however, the second call was totally and completely unrelated to our first visit, which is why we had to charge for a second service call because we had to do a completely separate set of diagnoses. This is similar to when you go t... read more

Technician arrived within promised time. Ran diagnostics on the furnace and determined that a Fan/Limit 5" to 11" switch has to be replaced. Gave a quote for $630 ($363 for parts and rest for labor). The technician said that he did not have the part in stock and said someone else would come with the parts and fix it. Technician #2 came in an hour later and replaced the part and the furnace working. Technician #2 gave me the old part and packaging of the replacement part. The replacement part was a 3" ... read more

Business response:

Our price that we charged him was not outrageous in any sense. Not sure what he looked up online. Our prices are right in line with our reputable competitors, and in many cases, cheaper. We were able to get his unit running that same day. We did notice that he was accidentally charged for a larger size part than he needed. Upon realizing this we immediately refunded him $45, which was the difference in cost from the small to the medium size.

I had an issue with my furnace back in Nov 2019 where I hired G&R to do the work. The customer service and expertise was great. They were able to replace the part pretty quickly. The cost was a little high but I need the work to be completed. Overall I was completely satisfied with the work that was done back in Nov. Fast forward to Jan 2020, hence my current rating. My furnace went out again. This time it was flashing an open roll out switch circuit was bad. Since G&R did a good job the last time I called them again. This t... read more

Business response:

I apologize for the experience that you had. It is typically a bad motor that causes a roll out switch to go bad, so repacing the switch itself is likely just a temporary fix. We replace the motor and the switch at the same time to save you from having to have us out multiple times and to ensure that the repair was completed properly, however, if you believe that our technician did misdiagnose your issue, please email us at customerservice@grheatingcoolng,com with a copy of your invoice from the other company so that we can ... read more

Shop around before you hire these guys. I had a service call (regular weekday hours) and issue was a gas valve and 1200 was the quote to fix. 10K was the quote to replace the furnace/ac unit, 10,700 if I wanted their premium brand Carrier. I got the gas valve fixed for 500 from a competitor andthey laughed and said I wish I could get 1200 for a gas valve.&; I also got 3 other quotes to replace that came in between 5k and 6500 including one that was the same premium brand carrier.

Business response:

We went to this customer's house and only charged him the service fee of $95 and we diagnosed the problem - as always we explain that our fee only covers the cost of the trip and diagnosis and that we will provide an estimate for repairs. Our estimate is right in line with standards charged by other "reputable" companies. The customer chose to find a cheap contractor instead and then demanded that we give him his money back. We provided the service though that he asked us to provide and agreed to ahead of time, but chose to ... read more
