1 star is being generous! Trying to cancel a policy and keep getting the run around. That's even if you can actually get someone to talk to you. Seems like no one there knows how to do this. Unfortunately, a friend of mine is an employed agent with Americo. She talked me into a policy 3 months ago. But a few days after being talked into it, I called her to let her know I didn’t want to do it. She said that’s fine and relayed to me that she called her higher ups and canceled for me. Keep in mind, I have never received any form of digital or paper proof in the mail or email of my supposed “policy” and the website they say to look it up, does not show you it. This company is a scam. They hire freelance liars to sell the public their garbage insurance products. Once I found out the truth about this company I had a 30 minute talk with one of their cancellation staff. I verbally cancelled my policy and requested a written cancellation document to be emailed and mailed to me. I never received the mailed copy but I did receive the emailed copy. I was sold two policies for one home. I only discovered this when I thought I was getting double-billed each month. I was told I would get any money paid in back upon selling my home, if I never used the insurance (it was supposed to serve the purpose of paying off my home in the event of my death). Turned out this was only applicable after 30 years. Two different agents sold me policies. One must have disregarded that the other had already sold me one.

They promised this would be a full mortgage insurance as in, if I was terminally ill they would pay the $250k for the mortgage. The policy is only worth $75k.

I had a return of premium life insurance plan. When my 15 years was up, I requested to not extend my policy but to cash out. They refused to pay my premiums back saying I took to long to send the paperwork in. They never informed me that I had a deadline to file and kept all of my money.

My wife has a life policy with Americo. She recently changed banks and had contacted them, giving them updated payment info and paying the premium. However, this company tried multiple times to get money from the closed account, AFTER being PAID from the new account. They do not respond when contacted and do what they want. She is cancelling and going to another company.
