After talking with an agent and getting a quote for life insurance, we told the agent we wanted to think about it. Two days later we found out he had debited our account and issued a policy that we didn't agree to. We called the agent and he gave us another number to call. Called the cancelation department and after holding for 28 or so minutes, we were informed it would take at least 12 days for them to refund our money. I started with College Life Insurance Company, they changed my Policy over to Americo Financial Life and Annuity Insurance Company. In October 2024 I received a statement stating that I have a past due amount of $688.61 and my monthly premium will be $159.49 instead of $65.00 a month. I have had this Policy since October 1997 and I am on a senior citizen on a fixed income. Upon reviewing these critiques, I have decided to cancel my subscription. I had hoped to encounter more positive feedback, but unfortunately, the majority of comments were negative. Therefore, I have made the decision to terminate my plan. I approach this situation with a healthy dose of skepticism.

For better part over a year I got life insurance and they take it out of my account but never sent me my policy I called several times and asked for it. They always say they will but never have. They always through someone else under the bus and tell me I'm so sorry to hear this and they will send it but never do. I also left so many messages. Rich S********* called as an agent with Rocket Mortgage, BOY was I scammed. He was good, offered us a mortgage/Life insurance policy, said the policy would pay our mortgage up to 1 year in the event of one of us passing away, in addition to life insure. I own two Americo MYGA fixed annuities. I need to speak with customer service but I cannot get through to a live person. Wednesday, Thursday and today, I was on hold a had to hang up after 15 minutes. The nature of my work does not allow me to take call backs when I’m working. I will avoid Americo in the future. On a scale of 1-10 (one being the worst) Americo Life Insurance would rank around negative 10. It is next to impossible to speak with a real person. When you finally do, they cannot speak enough English to communicate. After being on hold for 54 minutes, I could not make the person understand what we needed.
