On a scale of 1-10 (one being the worst) Americo Life Insurance would rank around negative 10. It is next to impossible to speak with a real person. When you finally do, they cannot speak enough English to communicate. After being on hold for 54 minutes, I could not make the person understand what we needed. I answered a 1-888- … call , sure enough … an Insurance Agent with a card and or a ID # ,that doesn’t have a google result… ??? Insurance agent Shannon W***** contacted me and talked me into getting a policy (awesome persuasion, gross morals). He did NOT sell this policy as a life insurance policy. While on the call, he sent the texts containing confirmation numbers. All he told me to make sure our numbers matched. I WISH I would have read these reviews before I went looking for health insurance over the exchange. The agents will trick you into thinking you are ONLY receiving health insurance. But they automatically sign you up for life insurance even when you clearly (both verbally and in writing) indicate that you are NOT interested in any other type of insurance. They DO NOT tell you. This is a company that uses deceptive means to get your money. I called a number trying to reach my insurance company to inform them that I mistakenly received mail that belonged to a different client. Somehow I was redirected to this company. When I explained why I was calling, the agent pretended to be associated with my company and then tried to sell me an insurance policy using fraudulent means by giving me misinformation. It took me a few minutes to figure out what this guy was doing and put a stop to it! Beware!
Everything about this experience was terrible. Customer service is horrible. I gave them $3800 for their service. To show their gratitude, they took another $7600. I had no choice but to walk away, so they would take more. Don’t deal with them!!!
They don't deserve a star at all. It's a terrible and misleading company. I invested 3 years in the company for insurance and canceled it after 3 years. The coverage was misleading and I lost 3 years of my money with nothing refundable. I got hosed . It is a rip off.
Was bombarded by a phone call after overnight shift. I stated repeatedly over the phone I do not want a policy. I was send a policy confirmation number and a charge on my card. I repeatedly told them I do not give you permission to charge me I do not want a policy and now I’m getting emails saying my policy has been started. I’m going to stop payment through my bank. this company is dishonest to the point of not paying death claims -- i am a financial professional 35 years in the life and annuity business and never seen such deception and chicanery in the way AMERICO gets away with not paying death benefit claims on its Jointly Owned Non-Qualifed Annuity contracts when annuitant dies and the joint surviving owner spouse is beneficiary they don't allow lump sum payment payment option by way of 1035 exchange except for first doing spousal continuation of contract to include surrender charg... read more
